asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many persons who had previously obtained abortions under the National Health Service received a second or subsequent abortion in each of the years 1968, 1969, 1970 and 1971 in England and Wales.

We do not know how many women who had a second or subsequent abortion in each of the years 1968, 1969, 1970 and 1971 in England and Wales had previously obtained abortions under the National Health Service, but the numbers of women resident in England and Wales who are known to have previously obtained abortions under the Abortion Act 1967 in all places, that is, National Health Service Hospitals, Approved places and Approved Services Hospitals were as follows:

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many pregnancies have been terminated at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester, since the Abortion Act became operative; and if he will give the figures on an annual basis and to the latest available date.

The figures, which include pregnancies terminated in Wythenshawe maternity unit as well as in other parts of Wythenshawe Hospital, were as follows:
