HC Deb 04 August 1972 vol 842 c219W
Dr. Vaughan

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make it his policy that some social workers in each local authority have special training in helping disabled people, particularly the blind: and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alison

Authorities are aware of the need to employ social work staff suitably qualified to provide services for each type of handicapped people. The content of the training of social workers is a matter for the Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work and training courses will be designed to meet this need.
