§ Mr. Elystan Morganasked the Secretary of State for Wales how many forms have been officially translated under the provisions of the Welsh Language Act, 162W 1967; what percentage of forms which are available in both Welsh and English are used in the two languages, respectively; and what proposals he has for increasing the use of Welsh forms.
§ Mr. Peter ThomasThere are at present Welsh or bilingual versions of 322 official forms, of which 156 have been prescribed under the provisions of the Act. The extent to which the forms are used is a question for the various Government Departments responsible for their issue and comprehensive information is not readily available. I am always ready to consider ways of adding to the steps already taken to encourage the use of the forms.
