§ 63. Mr. Fernyhoughasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he is aware that revitalisation schemes and improvement schemes are being held up through shortages of materials and man power; and if in these circumstances he will delay improvement grants in respect of houses which are not the main residence of the applicant.
§ Mr. EyreI know that the success of the Government's policy has led to local difficulties in the development and intermediate areas. These will be eased by the announcement that legislation is to be introduced to extend by one year to 23rd June, 1974, the date before which works must be completed in order to qualify for the higher rates of grant under the Housing Act, 1971. I do not intend to ask local authorities to discriminate against any categories of owners.
