§ Mr. Gordon CampbellIn 1970–71, local authorities' net revenue expenditure—including loan charges—on education amounted to about £216 million representing 54 per cent. of total expenditure on services reckonable for rate support grant—£399 million. In the same year the amount of rates received was about £213 million.
