§ Mr. Charles R. Morrisasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will initiate action with the appropriate authorities to preserve the historically significant Liverpool Road railway station in the city of Manchester.
§ Mr. AmeryThis building is statutorily listed as of special architectural or historic interest in Grade I. It cannot be demolished without the consent of the local planning authority or of my right hon. Friend; and he has to be notified of any proposal by the local authority to grant consent to demolish it. The site of which the listed building forms part is still in operational use, but the station has not been used for passenger services for some years. I am asking the British Railways Board what plans it has for its future.
