§ Mr. Crowderasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will consider increasing the maximum mortgage permitted under the option mortgage scheme in view of the fall in the value of the £ sterling since the present limit of £7,500 was fixed.
§ Mr. AmeryThe limit applies only to Government assisted guarantees for high percentage loans made under the option mortgage scheme, not to the scheme itself. I think it right that these special guarantees should continue to be directed towards borrowers who are less well off.
