§ Mr. Goronwy Robertsasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what efforts his Department is making to publicise the suitability of the Government-built factory at Penygroes, Caernarvonshire, for medium-sized industry; what sums from public funds are being or have been expended recently to enhance the attractiveness of these buildings; and what special measures he is taking to reduce the persistently high percentage of unemployment in the Caernarvon/Penygroes district.

§ Mr. ChatawayWe bring this factory to the attention of suitable industrialists whenever oportunity offers. Over £20,000 is being spent on modernisation and another £24,000 on dilapidations and other remedial work. My right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer's Budget proposals, together with the recently announced regional measures, should help materially to reduce unemployment in the Caernarvon/Penygroes district as elsewhere throughout the country.
