HC Deb 11 April 1972 vol 834 c135W
17. Mr. O'Halloran

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what further steps he will take to assist local authorities to organise voluntary participation in the social services, on the lines of the scheme organised by the Camden London Borough Council.

Sir K. Joseph

My Department is currently engaged on a pilot study of the work of a number of local authority co-ordinators of statutory and voluntary services in this field to discover what useful lessons might be drawn. The Department will also be bringing to the attention of local authorities the recommendations in the recently published report by P.E.P. on" The Organisation of Voluntary Service", which relates to a study of domiciliary visiting services for the elderly sponsored by Age Concern and financed by the Department.
