§ 44. Mr. Goldingasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he is now taking to prevent pollution from motor cars.
§ Mr. Peter WalkerAfter 31st December, new cars must have devices to prevent fumes escaping from the crankcase. From October, 1972, diesel-engined vehicles must be constructed to comply 325W with a stricter smoke emission limit than is now in force elsewhere in Europe or in America. But I do not propose to rest content with what we have done. I hope to announce further measures shortly.
