§ 97. Mr. Adleyasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will make a statement on the availability of assistance to smaller local authorities in dealing with the problem of Dutch elm disease.
§ Mr. PriorI refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave my hon. Friends the Members for Woking (Mr. Onslow) and Worcestershire, South (Sir G. Nabarro) on 19th October. Financial assistance is available only to the councils in the heavily infected areas which have been invited by the Forestry Commission to take powers under the Plant Health Act, 1967. These include county councils, county borough councils and certain borough councils.—[Vol. 823, c.83.]
