§ Mr. Oakesasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if malic acid and its derivatives are still considered safe food additives in Group A by his Department.
§ Mr. Anthony StodartI have received no advice from the Food Additives and Contaminants Committee or from the Pharmacology Sub-Committee that they wish to change the recommendation they made in 1968 that malic acid and its sodium, potassium and calcium salts should, subject to suitable specifications of purity, be permitted for use in food.
