§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a statement on what action the Government propose taking regarding the banning by the Soviet Government of a number of British diplomats and other citizens from holding appointments and visiting the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, details of which are in his possession.
§ Sir Alec Douglas-HomeI regard these measures, particularly the victimisation of individuals, as unwarranted. But having regard to all the circumstances I do not propose to take further steps at this stage and I have so informed the Soviet Foreign Ministry.
