§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will give details for the week ending 10th October of the number of Metropolitan police officers who were injured whilst carrying out arrests in London, the nature of their injuries, and how many had to attend hospital, and have time off from their normal duties.
§ Mr. SharplesFifty-one Metropolitan police officers sustained injuries in the week ending 10th October while carrying out arrests in London. Twelve suffered head injuries, 33 injuries to the body, and six injuries to both head and body. Twenty had to have time off from normal duties, of whom 13 had to attend hospital.
