HC Deb 20 October 1971 vol 823 c127W
Mr. Clinton Davis

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what discussions have taken place between him and motoring organisations with regard to the question of the safety of the child in the car; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Eldon Griffiths

The Department regularly meets with motoring organisations to discuss matters related to road safety.

Children in cars should be seated in the rear-seat preferably using a suitable safety harness. It is particularly dangerous to carry children on a front passenger's lap.
