§ Mr. Redmondasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans he has for the Forest Products Research Laboratory to come under the direct control of the Director of the Building 123W Research Station; and if he will give an assurance that the volume and type of research and development work executed by the laboratory will at least continue at the level of recent years.
§ Mr. Peter WalkerThe future relationship of the Forest Products Research Laboratory with the Building Research Station is one of a number of organisational matters in the research field currently under consideration. There are no plans to reduce the amount of work carried out by the Laboratory but there could be a gradual reorientation of the research programme so that it is fully geared to the Government's broad field of interest in housing and construction.
