§ Mr. Prenticeasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the present position concerning the third replenishment of the International Development Association.
§ Mr. WoodThe Third Replenishment of over $800 millions a year for three years cannot become effective until it has been ratified by the United States, but the Association has now received firm pledges of advance contributions of over $300 millions from eight donors. This 115W will allow it to continue its planned commitments for some months. The pledges include £43.2 millions from Britain, or the whole of our first year's payment to the Replenishment, following parliamentary approval of the necessary draft Order in June. Further offers of support are expected from other Governments.
