§ Sir Alec Douglas-HomeThe purpose of our action was to rectify a situation which had become intolerable for our national security. This has now been done. We shall continue to play a full and constructive part in East/West negotiations and, when the Berlin settlement is completed, in the preparations for a security conference, and to work for better relations with the Soviet Union.
