HC Deb 30 November 1971 vol 827 c88W
Mr. John

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what work has been done, and inspections undertaken, with a view to the implementation of the Fire Precautions Act, 1971; and when it is now expected that the Act will be brought in force.

Mr. Sharples

As I stated in reply to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Bolton, West (Mr. Redmond) on 11th November the Act will first be applied to hotels and boarding-houses. A draft code of practice has been circulated for comment to interested organisations prior to the appropriate orders being made in the New Year. Special training courses on the Act have been arranged at the Fire Service Technical College. Local preparations are a matter for individual fire authorities—[Vol. 825, c.225.]
