Mr. Willeyasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many of the 3,600 jobs he expected, on 30th September, 1970, to arise in the Sunderland area within the next few years have arisen in the past 12 months; and what is his present estimate of the number of new jobs expected to arise in the Sunderland area.
§ Mr. Anthony Grant2,600 jobs are expected to arise in the Sunderland area over the next four years in authorised new industrial buildings and in existing buildings taken over by manufacturing industry. I regret it is not possible to estimate how many jobs have arisen in a given period.
