§ Mr. Kenneth Clarkeasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the total number of places with work available to undergraduates on sandwich courses in England and Wales; how this compares with the number of places available 12 months ago; and what is her estimate of the continuing trend in the number of such places available.
§ Mr. van StraubenzeeThe number of students enrolled in sandwich courses at undergraduate level in England and Wales in the Autumn term, 1970, was 28,030, compared with 26,330 a year earlier. I expect the number to increase but cannot quantify it.
