§ Mr. Clinton Davisasked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if lie has completed his consideration of the decision of the Court of Appeal in Crouch & Lees v. Haridas concerning accommodation agencies; and if he will make a statement;
(2) if he will introduce amending legislation to the Accommodation Agencies Act, 1953 in order to increase the penalties provided thereunder.
§ Mr. AmeryThis Court of Appeal decision has caused some uncertainty about the type of services for which it is an offence for an accommodation agency to charge. I understand that some hearings of cases arising under this Act are likely to be heard in the near future. At the moment, I have no further statement to make.
