HC Deb 23 November 1971 vol 826 c347W
Mr. Clinton Davis

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if lie has completed his consideration of the decision of the Court of Appeal in Crouch & Lees v. Haridas concerning accommodation agencies; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if he will introduce amending legislation to the Accommodation Agencies Act, 1953 in order to increase the penalties provided thereunder.

Mr. Amery

This Court of Appeal decision has caused some uncertainty about the type of services for which it is an offence for an accommodation agency to charge. I understand that some hearings of cases arising under this Act are likely to be heard in the near future. At the moment, I have no further statement to make.
