§ Mr. Goldingasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the chief constable on what was the number of assaults on police in the county of Staffordshire in each of the last two available years.
§ Mr. SharplesI am informed by the chief constable that in the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent police area in 1969, 156 persons were charged with 224 offences involving assault on a police officer In 1970, 127 persons were charged with 172 such offences.
