Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many unemployed people in Scotland, having been unemployed for a period exceeding 312 days, are unable to receive unemployment benefit.

On 2nd August, 1971, which is the latest date for which figures are available, about 27,000 registered unemployed people in Scotland had exhausted their entitlement to unemployment benefit for this reason.
