§ Mr. Urwinasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what proposals 18W he has for new industrial developments in the Houghton-le-Spring constituency to offset the job losses occurring as a result of the closure on 6th November of Silksworth Colliery.
§ Mr. Anthony GrantI understand that the National Coal Board have offered alternative work to employees affected by the closure, but I recognise the need for new industry in the district and the Department will continue to bring the advantages of location in the Special Development Area of which it is a part to the attention of appropriate industrialists.
