§ Mr. Geoffrey Lloydasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what research he is undertaking into the incidence of tuberculosis among persons born outside the United Kingdom now residing here, and the causes of it; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Alison:My Department is supporting a study, by the British Thoracic and Tuberculosis Association, of the countries of origin of persons notified as suffering from tuberculosis. The aim is to discover the significance of the place of birth of newly notified cases of tuberculosis in the early months of 1971. The results of this survey will be studied to see whether it is possible to identify aspects of the problem which require further attention.
