§ Mr. Bryant Godman Irvineasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what proposals she has to set up an institute specifically devoted to the development of alternative methods of research not requiring the use of living animals.
§ Mrs. Thatcher:As I made clear on previous occasions, I am advised that the development of alternative techniques in this field is best undertaken in the context of specific research problems and I do not therefore think that the establishment of a separate institute for this purpose would be appropriate.
