asked the Minister of State for Defence how many British troops have been killed and how many injured, in Northern Ireland in each of the last eight three month periods and during October, 1971.

Figures for those wounded refer to those admitted to hospital as a result of security operations. The figure for those killed in July-September, 1971, includes two members of the Ulster Defence Regiment. The figure for those killed in October, 1971, includes one man who died in that month from wounds received in September; the figure for those wounded in July-September has been reduced accordingly.
