Osbornasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what steps he is now taking to determine standards of quality of goods relating to composition, construction and performance with manufacturers and trade associations affected by the abolition of marking orders under the Trade Descriptions Act, 1968.

Friends the Members for Torrington (Mr. Peter Mills) and Leicester, South-West (Mr. Tom Boardman), I am considering the desirability of marking orders requiring goods to be labelled with information about, for example, composition, construction and performance.
