§ Mr. Dudley SmithAt 11th October, 1,262 people were registered as unemployed in the area covered by the Newcastle-under-Lyme Employment Exchange. The rate of unemployment for the whole of the Stoke-on-Trent travel-to-work area, which includes Newcastle-under-Lyme, was 3.5 per cent.
