§ Mr. Mikardoasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what were the weights and numbers of bronze, cupro-nickel and nickel coins which were scrapped at Llantrisant in August and September 1971.
§ Mr. Higgins11,663 lb. of cupronickel and 5,349 lb. of bronze coins produced at Llantrisant in August and September 1971 were rejected. This represents 1.24 per cent. of the coins produced in these alloys. No nickel coins were struck during the period. It would require a disproportionate effort to establish the number of coins rejected among the many denominations produced.
