HC Deb 04 November 1971 vol 825 c8W
Mrs. Doris Fisher

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether nursery education will benefit from the increased allocation of resources to primary schools; and if she will make a statement.

Mrs. Thatcher:

Schools for children of statutory school age have first priority. But over 5,000 additional places in nursery schools and classes in England were approved under the urban programme in January. Further places will be provided by projects in areas of high unemployment approved or shortly to be approved under the urban programme at a cost of £1.2 million.
