HC Deb 04 November 1971 vol 825 c8W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Minister of State for Defence on how many occasions in the past 12 months has Greece been visited by units of the British Forces; and what steps are taken by Her Majesty's Government to ensure that the troops' presence is not used by the Greek regime for propaganda purposes.

Lord Balniel:

Excluding brief calls for refuelling, staging and so on, British Forces have visited Greece on 16 occasions during the past year either as part of their normal national activities or to take part in multi-national N.A.T.O. training and demonstrate the solidarity of the Western Alliance. I have no evidence that the purpose of these visits has been misrepresented.
