1969–70 and 1972–73. £8,000 has been allocated in 1971–72 for Exchequer grants to provincial museums and galleries for approved purchases and £3,500 to the Scottish Council for Museums and Galleries for advisory services. As was indicated in the recent White Paper (Cmnd. 4676), the Government propose to undertake a review of the needs of provincial museums and galleries.
