§ 55. Mr. Doigasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will take the necessary steps to upgrade Dundee to a Special Development Area, in view of the rate of unemployment and the current economic prospects, including the contraction of the jute industry.
§ Sir J. EdenNo. Dundee is already eligible for the full range of development area assistance, and, while I recognise the difficulties being experienced there, I do not think that a change to S.D.A. status could be justified at the present time.
