HC Deb 25 May 1971 vol 818 c53W
39. Mr. Jessel

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many hospital beds there are in the Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames; and how many of these are set aside for psychiatric patients.

Mr. Alison

725. 300 of these are for the mentally handicapped but not solely for the population of Richmond. Mental illness beds and other beds for mental handicap are available outside the borough.

61. Mr. Jessel

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the admission rates of psychiatric patients per 100,000 population to the most recent date for which figures are available in Greater London as a whole, and in the Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames, separately.

Mr. Alison

Admission rates in terms of local authority areas are not readily available. The average admission rate in 1969 for the four Metropolitan Hospital Regions was 407 per 100,000 population.
