HC Deb 25 May 1971 vol 818 cc105-6W
Sir J. Gilmour

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what programme he has planned for the erecting of motorway central crash barriers in Scotland.

Mr. Oswald

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many miles of central barriers have been erected on motorways in Scotland; and how many miles of barriers are still to be installed.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

No central barriers have so far been erected in Scotland. Traffic densities justify these only on about 3 miles of the M8 Renfrew Bypass, where I hope installation can be carried out this summer.
