HC Deb 25 May 1971 vol 818 c125W
Mr. Freeson

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects the target of over 200,000 improvement grants per year under the Housing Act, 1969 to be achieved.

Mr. Amery

The Government have not set any target. 157,000 grants were approved in England and Wales in 1970 as against 109,000 in 1969, an increase of 44 per cent. If this rate of progress can be maintained, the 1969 total will be doubled within two years.
