56. Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many health centres were in full operation on 1st January, 1971; how many were in the process of being built; how many had already received approval for future building; what is the number of new plans submitted this year; and if he will make a statement.

At 1st January, 1971, 188 health centres were operating in England, 102 were under construction and 69 had been approved for building. A further 124 schemes are being actively planned, of which 42 have been submitted to my Department since 1st January.
