HC Deb 25 May 1971 vol 818 cc84-5W
Mr. Peter Mills

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will make a statement on the question of reviewing the fowl pest control arrangements.

Mr. Prior

I am glad to say that the fowl pest epidemic now seems to be on the wane. The time has come for us to review the course of the epidemic and the lessons to be learnt from it for the future. I have decided that it would be desirable to associate with the review four independent persons with a knowledge of the poultry industry. I am glad to say that the following have agreed to help my Department in this wayDr. R. F. Gordon, M.R.C.V.S., Director of the Houghton Poultry Research Station. Mr. W. M. Justice, a Director of J. Sainsbury Limited. Mr. G. Kidner, Chairman of the British Egg Marketing Board from 1968. Mr. J. F. Phillips, O.B.E., LL.M., F.C.I.S., Deputy Chairman of the Eggs Authority. There will of course be close consultation with all the organisations concerned.
