asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will seek to initiate a European conference in an endeavour to create a European comprehensive health service; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alison

Whilst we appreciate the advantages there might be in the creation of a European comprehensive health service, we do not think that it would be useful or practicable at the present time for the United Kingdom to attempt to initiate a Conference to examine this possibility.
