§ Mr. CarlisleOn 31st January in England and Wales 151 young men were in local prisons, and 36 in remand centres, awaiting transfer to borstal allocation centres; 657 young men were in allocation centres awaiting allocation or transfer to training borstals. 20 young women were at Holloway prison or at remand centres awaiting transfer to training borstals.
