Mr. Roy Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Wales (1) if he will convene a meeting of representatives of the Newport and East Monmouthshire Hospital Management Committee and the Welsh Hospital Board to discuss ways and means of averting the curtailment of services in the casualty department at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, Monmouthshire;
(2) what steps he is taking to reduce the waiting time and improve the service in the casualty department of the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, Monmouthshire.
§ Mr. Peter ThomasThe Welsh Hospital Board and the Hospital Management Committee are fully aware of the position. They are endeavouring to fill the staff vacancies in the casualty department. Meanwhile, they are enlisting the help of other local doctors, including the general practitioners.
