§ Lord BalnielAbout £400,000 has been allocated in 1971–72 by the Ministry of Defence and other Departments concerned to research on verification in the fields of arms control and disarmament. A number of other research programmes could have implications for the verification of future arms control and disarmament agreements. It is not possible to be precise about them, or to quantify the likely costs.
