The principal areas of activity of each of the Atomic Energy Authority's Research and Development establishments are listed in Appendix V of the authority's last Annual Report. These cover the development of reactor systems for the generation of electricity and supporting basic and applied research, research and development on nuclear weapons on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, and a variety of nuclear and non-nuclear programmes in support of British industry.
