§ Sir K. JosephAn intensive study has been made in a preliminary way of a common form of inquiry for a wide range of means-tested benefits administered both locally and centrally. The feasibility of such a procedure is now being discussed with the local authority associations, whose co-operation will of course be essential if the idea is to be taken further.
