§ Mr. Anthony StodartThere is no formal link between the United Kingdom Annual Review determinations and the way in which the dead-meat plants are subsidised in the Irish Republic: but in recent years the Government of the Irish Republic has maintained its beef carcase export subsidy at a rate of 1¼d. per lb. deadweight below the deficiency payments made under the United Kingdom Fatstock Guarantee Scheme. For 1971–72, however, revised arrangements have been introduced by the Government of the Irish Republic whereby this differential is to be widened to a maximum of 2¼d. per lb. deadweight, on a seasonal scale. The arrangements for lamb are unchanged.
