Osbornasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry when he publishes the White Paper on Metrication, if he will tabulate those industries and activities which have now adopted metric units and standards in which to reverse the transition would be to increase costs and cause confusion; and if he will indicate those areas where the transition can be slowed down and old units retained without causing added costs and confusion.
§ Mr. RidleyNo, this would not be practicable, but much of the information my hon. Friend seeks on the rate of progress of different industries can be found in the recently published Report of the Metrication Board. The White Paper will give the Government's policy in regard to metrication.
