Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry under what statutory authority he bases his refusal to take action to enforce the Companies Act when, as in the case of the Dollar Land Company Limited, signed evidence submitted by the directors of the company that they have broken the Act for several years has been submitted to his Department.
§ Mr. John DaviesThe Companies Acts permit the Department to decide whether action which it has power to take would in the circumstances of a particular case be appropriate.
