asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many persons were convicted in 1970 under the Drugs (Prevention of Misuse) Act 1964 and the Dangerous Drugs Act 1965: of these how many were convicted of offences involving cannabis; and how many of (a) the total and (b) the cannabis offenders were in the 15-20 age group.

My Lords, I regret that statistics of drug offences in 1970 will not be available until later this year. I will write to the noble Lady when we have this information.
